Amethyst is a young heiress who lives with her older sister Paris in Canterlot. The two sisters do not get along at all, even if both are seamstresses who work in their father's boutique. Perhaps it is because Amethyst is favored by her father that he named her his heiress, and not Paris, that keeps the sisters apart. Amethyst is nothing like her snob sister. Amethyst is kind and quiet, looking to please others rather than herself. She does try to keep an elite appearance, although lacks the stuck-up air that graces the other posh ponies that she has grown up around. Many consider her a most visually stunning young mare, which she quietly acknowledges and moves on without a second thought. She's quite passionate about her work, and specializes in lacework and silk, aspiring to one day work for royalty. Her gowns are as elegant as her precious mane, and her tailcoats are as sharp as her creative vision. Her talent may be to tailor the finest clothing in the finest city in Equestria, but it doesn't stop her from making quality outfits for the less blessed ponies that she meets out of sheer humbleness. A side hobby she enjoys and is often employed for is hairdressing.
Amethyst is already deemed the worthy daughter to inherit everything from her father, but she is more interested in making her own name for herself in the circle of dukes and duchesses as a great seamstress. Her goals in life don't exactly lie in Canterlot, as she is easily bothered by the amount of arrogance and spite that plagues the elite, and therefore, she doesn't see herself spending the rest of her life there. Raised in high society and brought up as a lady of class, Amethyst wants to change the image she has of herself, knowing that one can be a high class pony and a humble pony rather than a snob living in her little fantasy world.
Now she seeks an opportunity to branch out for herself, and hopefully become a better pony in the process, searching the streets of Canterlot for some sort of sign. Unfortunately for her, her older bitter sister Paris is also looking for new grounds.
